Reality compliments dream

The other day I came across an article which talked of how Coleridge wrote 'Kubla Khan'.Now everybody knows that the poem originated in the poet's opium inflicted dream and what we read is nothing but a miniature form or rather fragments of his original dream, yet it makes sense to most of the readers.True that one cannot really understand it by reading it once but then if one knows the door to the poem and read it quite a few number of times, one finds lesser difficulty in understanding the poem.Well why I am writing all this is because what I want to discuss can only be done if one reads the above lines.I remember Dumbledore telling Harry potter that that reality can origin in dreams as well(though these were not the actual words) in 'Harry potter and the Deathly Hallows',then why not consider pieces like 'Ode to the Nightingale' by Keats and 'Kubla khan' by Coleridge as pieces of reality. Both the poems were written by the poets in their euphoric state but what is to be questioned is how people taste opium to relish the flavour of the ideal world almost parallel to heaven as per Plato and yet fail to realize of how reality too somehow comes within this ideal dreamy state because without one knowing what the reality is one cannot really know what is the exact opposite of reality.Reality demarcates the region of dream and mends it to give birth to a beautiful source of creativity. In the poem 'Kubla khan',Kubla khan, the pleasure dome, the river,is real but the illusion of life and death reflected in the poem is the dream born out of the perturbed mind of the poet.Similarly in the poem 'Ode to the Nightingale' the nightingale is very much a part of reality because it was heard by Keats in the Hampton garden and in this poem the poet's understanding of the 'weariness, the fever, and the fret' of life is real too but Keat's idea of fading and dissolving away with the bird in the bird's happy ideal world is again a part of the dream. Thus the best of artists cannot really do away with reality if they want to talk about dream.Dream and reality compliments each other in creative works be it a piece of fiction or a painting.
