Praising the City of Joy

At the end of my second year,i tried explaining my readers, about my relationship with the city Kolkata and how i hated it so much. Now,it is the beginning of my post graduation,in the same city and i must say,i have fallen in love with this place.True that it took me quite a few months to do that, but i have started liking things here. Not that i am unaware of the unpleasant factors of the place, but i also know that no place can be completely perfect.I still don't like the clumsiness of the place, the crowd, the unhygienic atmosphere, the rapid life but i like how it all seems to end in a chaos, but it never does.I like the way the sun rises and suddenly everyone is seen working, and talking and quarreling on the streets,at a time i would consider early morning. The best part is perhaps the street food:they often end up giving you a ' Delhi Belly',but the food is available at a cheap rate and is always very delicious, and never even try to know about the ingredients that are put to use to make the food delicious -you will perhaps end up having a heart attack. The metro service of Kolkata is relatively cheaper than other metropolitan cities and helps you take a ride across the city. And some places like the Indian Coffee House and Nandan,is a must visit for youngsters. The monsoons in Kolkata, especially South Kolkata definitely sucks and if you are a Monsoon lover, you won't get much from this city, except for some places in North Kolkata. The National Library is again a must visit place. It is a cultural heritage of Kolkata when compared with British Council Library and American Centre and is also the most haunted place of Kolkata. The tourist attraction is Victoria Memorial,Birla Planetarium, the Howrah Bridge.Kolkata is also good in offering the denizens with some really good restaurants and for Biriyani Lovers,Kolkata has Aminia and Arsalan, with its branches all over Kolkata.Transgenders you will meet often on the streets of Kolkata and they are good people, except for the fact that they burn a hole in your pockets every time you meet them or rather they meet you.For shopaholics,Garia Hut , Esplanade and Hatibagan, are just the right places. You will get everything from a pin and toothbrush to heavy jewellery and dress. And haggling with the shopkeeper over the prizes of the various goods, just adds up to your experience. If you want a real taste of Kolkata, just go for the street fruit juice shops. Not only do they provide you with amazing fruit juice, but the name of their shops always make up for a silent hearty laugh, for good observers.I will tell you something. In North Kolkata i came across this particular fruit juice shop, whose name was 'Rishi Babur Hishi'(the piss of Mr.Rishi-the closest translation i can think of).No they provide us with juice and not piss, let me assure you.So you see,one needs to keep the ears and eyes open in Kolkata. You absolutely don't know, what can turn up to amaze you.It does not always end up giving a smile on your face, and often makes you face dirty, nasty things you can never forget. But on survival,it also gifts you with additional strength and accepts you with open arms.Unlike the other times,i am really excited to visit Kolkata after five months again.Must confess,I love you,the city of Joy.
