Zhijia

This post is about my first foreign friend. Her name is Zhijia. She is from Malaysia and she has come to India to do some voluntary work under Aiesec which is the largest student run organisation in the world whose main sim is to foster leadership through exchange programs. She is doing her global citizen project which is of six months. She on account of her work will have to stay for six weeks in our country.Yesterday she was sharing her experienced with me,some bitter some good.So here it goes. When she first arrived in Kolkata,at Dum Dum airport,it was midnight and she was expecting a cab from the organisation she works for but unfortunately she had to wait till morning when she finally got one and they dropped her in a nearby school and went away and being completely a stranger to this place she did not know what to do and finally made her way into the school where she was provided accomodation but that turned out to be a bad experience for her again because the room was small and it was summer season and she was without any source of contact with anyone and she was frustrated, exasperated and when she was asked by the principal of the school if she had taken any meal, she said a no and was asked to go outside and have some food and she also complained of the food poisoning she had, that too for two times. Now she is staying in our hostel and she says that this place is ten times better than her previous accomodation whole I personally feel that this present place of mile is horrible and that is when i realize the troubles she had to face in a worse condition. All that she narrated to me should be treated as a shameful, embarrasing incident for Indians and specially we the people of Kolkata.I apologize to you Zhijia on everyone's behalf because India could not give you a warm welcome. Now let us look at the positive side. She was saying that this experience helped her to evolve as a great human being. It was like a great exposure to her and in this journey all the people that she has come across helped her learn something which she did not know. She believes that at the end of this journey she will get a beautiful something and I sincerely hope that you get to see all the beautiful things in your life because you are indeed a good person and yesterday when i told you this you questioned me 'how do you define good or bad?' and that set me thinking all night and finally I came up with an answer-the very fact that you have come to India with a good purpose and adamently believe in providing Love to your pupils if nothing else makes you a good person Zhijia,a very good person.Yesterday when you were saying that mixing with optimistic people helps you feel an air of positivity around you rang so true to my ears because I really learned some very important lessons from you,the fact that before complaining about anyone I better put myself into their shoes and be the good and change I expect from this world instead of always grudging about people and not caring a bit about myself.Last but not the least,I will definitly remember to be kind to people not being stupid and careless at the same time.It was a pleasure to know you.Keep well, stay safe.Love you:)
