Recently I came across an article about prostitution in Anandabazar Patrika and it made me wander and wonder.Stories about some underpriviledged teen girls, who were brought into the prostitution market by means of kidnapping but they were lucky enough to be rescued by the Police but their going back to their families were against their wishes because they wanted to continue their living as sex workers.Isn't this shocking? But do you know why? These sex workers claimed their lives to be happier as sex workers because they got the opportunity to eat as much as they felt, had their own rooms and had their own luxurious belongings, while their poor lives denied them such facilities. The elite class might think of the word 'respect' and how a 'rightfully lived life' might bring this word as a gift, but being right and being wrong is not for us to decide, don't you think?A person who has always earned black money will see no wrong in his ways of earning, but for a man who has not,for him it is different. For a person who feeds his stomach once in a day, getting an unlimited scope of food would mean much more than what the word 'respect' can connote and living ones' life as per ones' choice is what we call democracy. Is not India a democratic country?Surely it claims to be one.Hope now you know where are the loopholes. Is it still a crime for these under priviledged women to desire a life that guarantees them all comforts, without really making them feel the need to sacrifice their souls.Obviously they will have to give their bodies to earn for themselves, but if they don't mind much, why should we bother ourselves by trying to be too right in our attitude in matters,we least know of.Instead of pretending to care too much for a society, can't we help the remaining 'not polluted' underpriviledged zones, with their basic rights and three essential commodities(Food,Clothes,Home), instead of commenting about what should have happened and what did not happen? It is more lame than trying to prevent a person from choosing ones' profession. We don't have enough knowledge to understand what a human soul craves for and of how the mind changes its direction every five minutes. There are things that are not in our control and hence we should allow such things to have their own way.Once Lord Krishna said that when a flower blooms, the plant does not possess the idea of the flower's destiny. The flower can find its' place in the braid of a woman or at the feet of God,but the flower should never forget its purpose-that is to spread its beautiful fragrance everywhere. For those who think I am trying to justify too much, specially things i should not, can close their eyes and shut their brains. For people who want to throw questions such as तुम कया कर रहे हो(Pardon my Hindi if it is wrong) to solve such issues,to them my answer is,that i am writing this article and also working in a Ngo to bring in some local changes because for now and considering my age, that is all that i can do.What are you doing?
