' Today-ing' - today

It was another good day. Away from work and stuff. How i like it?! And exploring more of a new place with a friend is exactly what can light up an otherwise boring day. It was a work related thing that my friend and I went out for but since nothing worked out, we ended up walking and me exploring. We came across a small pond and since I am a little dreamy and like such stuffs, I loved it. I am sure my friend was bored to death but he too ended up taking some pictures of that pond. Then we walked. He had his food and we went to two shopping malls where my friend bought a giant size umbrella for him. He told me that he wanted an umbrella that could cover his ass and so he bought that. And then we came back to a small tea stall by the road. Street tea and a little talking with the owner of the tea stall made my friend decide that he will give away his old umbrella to someone in need. The man in the tea stall obviously being his first choice but when asked for the man said that he had an umbrella and he did not need one. And that someone then turned out to be a little kid who was giggling with her mother right in the next stall. Since the kid was reluctant to come with us to our house we decided to bring back the umbrella to her. My friend had a huge packet of unused flour with him which he decided ( my mother reminded him) to give away too, to people who were in need. And what else? I was way too happy to help him out. I have not done any such thing since I have come to this new place. And today I could do it. I helped him distribute the flour first to the man i had once earlier mentioned in one of my blog posts. The man who sings for his grand daughter. Then to a labourer who works in our colony. Then we moved towards the stalls and gave it to the little kid whose name was Chandni. We gave her the umbrella too. She and her mother were so, so happy. Then we gave some to the tea stall owner and then the remaing to a man engaged in construction of buildings. All of them were so happy. That smile that they gave both of us back was priceless. I felt so good. I am sure my friend must have felt the same way too. Being human, being humble is so important. It was not just about us giving away the food to the needy, it was also about the food that did not go to a waste. On our way back home we explored some more. We were looking for an alternate path to go towards the bus stand on rainy days to save us from the giant size puddle that falls on our way in our usual route. Fortunately we got one. My friend played football with the kids and bragged his skills, while I watched. Then we came back and went up in the roof. Well it was my idea and though my friend was reluctant he had to come. I wanted to see and show him a little hut which is right behind the railway track which again is in the back side of our house. Why I wanted to see that little hut? Because it is in the middle of nowhere, isolated with nothing but trees and grass surrounding it. And the people staying there light up that place with a small bulb ( which they did today) and sometimes with a lamp which they did the first time i discovered the hut. It was so soothing. It just made me realize that we surround ourselves with so many things but we don't need much. A little place to live, some food, good smile and good time with the loved ones is enough to get us through. Is not it? Thank you God for this lovely day.
